The grip comps I have been organising in Oz have been running closely to the rules posted on David's website. I was unable to properly answer the following recent post on aussiestrength.com regarding...
i. the weight of the stick ii. or length of the rope.
Is there a definitive answer?
"G'day James, a couple of questions. I'm a relative novice to specific grip training and use predominently endurance type stuff when it comes to grip as we do a lot of grappling here. I've chosen a couple of these exercises to have a crack at and see how far i can go with some specific grip events, namely the 1 hand deadlift and weaver stick lift (but will try some others). Are these the right specs to build a weaver stick and what length should the rope be to hang the weights on and how heavy should the actual stick etc be? (does it matter???)
42inch long stick Notch ½ inch from one end 36inches from center of notch mark line on stick 5 ½ inches for gripping leftover Gripping area may be taped with non-stick tape for thickness
I'm looking forward to setting a challenge for some of my mates at the gym etc! Something new to compete in, a bit of strength fun!
Thanks, Craig"

From what I know the answer are no. The stick weighs what it weighs (so scale the lot) and have the rope just long enough as per the few videos. PM David directly if need be.

Don't include the weight of the stick in the weight, just the weight hanging at the end.
