David and I will be discussing the referee issue as well as putting together a rough plan for 2008 sometime over the next 24-48 hours.
I will put out what has been discussed thus far and no doubt we will be looking for help in putting on events as well.
• Jan – record event • Feb – record event • March – record event • April – Peter Horne annual memorial event • May – British Grip Championships • June – record event • July – British Pinch championships • August – record event • September – bending competition • October – record event • November – record event / award dinner • December – record event
Not included is Chris McCarthy's potential December 2007 event and some of the above record events may be changed to exhibition type events. Those in bold have pretty much been settled on. Another one to be discussed was a potential Euro event here in the UK. We settled on the November dinner because it'll leave you all time to build up the pennies again in time for Xmas shopping.

David will be contacting Chris re his joining and making the Swindon event a BHSA event. He will also announce two more events he has planned.
In addition I'd like to offer a pinch event (using the Euro pinch equipment we have here) as part of the Whey Power Challenge to be held here in Gloucester on Saturday December 22nd. You do not have to be a BHSA member to take part but you DO if you want your lift or any record you set to be a BHSA one.
As it is part of a bigger event (Terry Holland is considering pulling a 400-kilos deadlift on the same day) we will have no entry fee but ask for the usual £2.00 training fee contribution to be added to our fees jar.
Bring your own refreshments.
More info to follow.

Perth Grip Strength Challenge (Under aegis of BHSA)
Sunday 9 December, 2007
Venue: Unit 10, Lower Friarton, Friarton Rd, Perth, PH2 8DL
Start: 12 noon
Doors open: 10.30 am

Whey Consortium Power Challenge
Saturday Dec 22nd, 2007.
Venue; Whey Gym, Gloucester
As part an informal but pre-planned power and strength competition that those training at the Whey Consortium training camp here in Gloucester are holding I'm also offering a two handed pinch competition.
The power and strength section may include Terry Hollands (subject to his diary staying as is) doing a 400-kilo deadlift. Myself and Nick McKinless are hoping to bench 180-kilos, Laurence Shahlaei wants a 350-kilo deadlift and there are several other informal targets being set. So far we have 16 names down. Although not subject to any IPF etc refereeing the passing of said lifts will be strictly applied.
There is no entry fee and so no prizes but you MUST be a BHSA member to get any lift accepted for listing on the records. Non BHSA members can take part but they will not have their lifts recognized by or placed on the BHSA listings.
Usual two hand pinch rules apply and we will be using the approved Euro pinch and calibrated plates.
All lifters and attendees will be asked to place the usual £2.00 training fee in our jar - money raised thus is used to buy chalk and equipment etc for the not-for-profit gym part of the business.

In January Steve and I will be sorting the years contests out. So can other promotors please put their dates and comps out as soon as you know, or at least try and stay clear of the same dates for other BHSA events. That way we don't dilute any contests with 2 being on at the same time.
