God help me I'm not sure if my ire is from a stuffed up nose, bad back and sore throat. So feeling mean and moody and not a little frustrated I can't go full bore but if I see one more 'please hold my hand and tell me what to do' type post on certain muscle forums I may have to go round and kick them a kicking!
A recent one was what shoes to wear out... another how to complain about something and so on. Today's was a guy saying the gym he uses is perfect except there's no social atmosphere cos his mates trained at another gym.
You have to be kidding.
It's a place of work where I go to kick ass and get as strong as I can for competitions not where I go with soft pink hands hoping for someone to help me through a feeble workout all the while getting my buds approval. Give me a break!
Perhaps it's just me. I thought all guys that worked out wanted to have a better bod and realized that they needed to work d**n hard to get one. Perhaps it's just me that thinks when the bar is overhead YOU need to push back, not get a metaphorical spot from, as per this guys counter to my view, merely being in the same building. I pointed out that this was even worse. It wasn't that he needed them there to train, he said, but just be there. What and why??
Is it just me??

It's just you.
Sez the man that's only ever been to a pro gym twice!
No it's not just you.
Some people don't give a sheep what they look like, just as long as they're strong enough to do the job, no matter what the job is. But then, you're prettier than me, so what do I know?

No, it's not just you. I think the amount of chrome is a gym is inversely proportional to the % of members who know how to train hard and properly. I've been fortunate to have trained in some real spit and sawdust places over the years. No heat, no joining fees, no TV screens to be seen. When my last one burned down I reluctantly joined one of these chrome & piped music places. What a waste. Filled with "insignificants": guys who go through the motions and have nothing to show for it. Or better yet those that go through the motions, scream and grimace just for the sake of it. And still have nothing to show for it. It's not good enough to say "well at least they're doing something". No they're not. They're wasting their time and taking up space that I could be using. Go and sit down the pub if you want to chat to your mates. I finally quit when the management put up a sign in the free weights section asking us not to groan or grunt or drop the weights. Now I train outside, at home not a bit of chrome to be seen. Grunting allowed!

The guys reply to one post was 'I aint hardcore'. I said I've not mentioned hardcore unless you think getting on with it on your own is rocky style...

I find this attitude very disapointing, I fail to see the problem with chrome and plasma screens, I mean what on earth do you do between sets if you have no plasma to view. that's going to get very boring very quick and just becuase the equipment is shiny doesn't mean to say it wont make you strong, in fact I managed half the stack on the thigh aducter machine machine a few weeks ago all while watching Mika on MTV.
As for not having soft pink hands, this does take some work as some of the bars can be a little ruff at times but a little atrixo or cocoa butter applied directly after your workout can remedy this.
