Vulcan
level 5 (CCS) R =1 L = miss level 6 (CCS) R =1 L = miss by 2mm
level 7 R = 1 L = 1 -- set it as best I can with non-gripping hand level 8 R = miss 5mm L = better than parallel
IM 2.5 R = miss 5mm L = miss. better than parallel
Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 2mm Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 2mm Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 2mm Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 5mm Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 2mm -- got a good set with left hand close Vulcan level 7 R = 1 L = miss 5mm
Vulcan level 8 R = miss 5mm L = miss better than parallel
Best vulcan sesh so far. Seem to have got used to it and settled at about level 7 for working sets. Never quite managed a close with the left hand but I reckon it will happen soon.
Shoulder not great and i think the cuban presses were a bit too much, too soon for it. Have got the ice pack back on it and then the hot water bottle. Need to calm down a bit and not rush the shoulder.

deadlift no belt DO 3x160kg. failed the 4th rep mixed grip 2x5x180kg
First deadlifting in 6+ weeks partly due to niggly knee. No knee pain today.
1 hand lift Worked up to 175kg each hand. Higher than the dinnies and easier. Stopped voluntarily...didn't want to injure ANOTHER bodypart. this was my first attempt with the new handle.
slippery eel (without the eel) 3x60kg each hand 3x70kg right hand 3x70kg failures with left hand
machine pulldowns Did these single handed on the fancy iso-pulldown machine. 3x10x45kg each hand.
shot put 7kg Worked up to 9 - 9.5 'paces' with both stationary and glide.
Overall Shoulder still sore and 'raw'. Probably put my recovery back a week by over zealous training on tuesday.
Also, got my IM cables back today and can now use them for the shoulder rehab.
They had been loaned to a mate who is a tree doctor. He fell from a tree and broke both his legs a few months ago. IMHO, this is one of the few acceptable reasons not to squat ;0) Like the trooper he is, he took the opportunity to do some cable work. To be honest, if he got run over by a lorry he would probably try and pinch grip the vehicle's tyres or do pullups on the axle on the chassis.
bdywt 98.1kg. 1kg drop...partly due to weighing myself before evening meal.

blockweight workout
Warmup with 12.5kg blockweight rows R= 10 reps L= 9 reps
20kg blockweight R=1,1,1,1 L=0,0,0,0
All the left handed ones came up about 6 inches before being dropped. I can usually deadlift it to lockout. Figured, my thumbs were not recovered fully so I cut the workout short as I was just eating into recovery time.
Had a play with the vulcan and tried (and failed) to get a CCS on level 7. Maybe soon. Got a level 6 though which I am pleased with.

axle press (from hang clean) Worked up to 8x58kg
log press 8x55kg -- unloaded log 8x65kg 8x70kg 8x70kg 7x70kg -- ran out of steam
Something is 'wrong' at the rear-delt/ upper-back area that makes it feel like there is a few inches of pressing with no power at all. Need to get some more stretching in that area as it is all a bit b*ggered.
farmers walk (turns every 25m) 60kgx50m 60kgx50m 80kgx50m
Took smaller steps to protect knee ..also did the turn anticlockwise to protect the right knee. Seemed okay but I was a bit timid.
Despite the 100 year of droughts, it never fails to rain when i train in the backyard. At this point in the workout it started to slash down.
keg loading on to a platform 5x64kg 5x95kg 10x105kg -- reps 6+ were killers and I felt light headed.
blockweights 12.5kg x 5 rows each hand
20kg blockweight R = 1,1,1,1,1 L = 0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1
Managed 5 reps each hand but had to tip the blockweight toward to palm and lift it a bit of an angle for the left hand.
small dinnie Worked up to 150kg either hand. Quite pleased with this as I have not used the rings since i twisted my knee.
TTK single thumb only 3x15x3.75kg for each hand. Probably a bit too hard and technique got a bit sloppy toward end of each set.
biceps 4x15 with 2 strands on the IM cables.

Got the green light to run a grip comp at my gym. I hope this results in a better attendance as it has been hard to get the Aussies away from the beach to enter grip comps. Here's the plan hosted.filefront.com/gripcompTo try and attract some casual lifters as well, I have allowed people to enter individual events, with the chance of winning a 6-pack of beer. This might attract the time-constrained and the curious...or the alcoholic

vulcan CCS level 7 R= 1,1,1 L= 0,0,0 (Juuuust failing by a few mm each time)
vulcan level 8 R = 3 fails. Probably 5mm each time. But the set was a bit narrower than ccs L = 3 fails. maybe 10mm-15mm failures.
vulcan level 6 5 reps each hand. Alternating the hand each rep
won't be able to get to the gym for my scheduled workout tomorrow so went to the gym at 10pm and put up some posters for the comp and then...
deads DO 3 singles with 160. 1 single with 165 1 single with 170 (a pb!)
the bar was bent so there were lots of crappy pulls to get the camber the right way around.
deads mixed grip. no belt 2x5x190kg
That was it...2 sets and homeward bound...stuart mcRoberts would be proud of me.
Bodyweight is 98.8kg. Hard to find anything positive about the old weight loss programme. I am a fatty.

Have just returned from 4 nights in Tasmania. I had a great time and i figured the rest would be good for the body. unnfortunately, I managed to twinge my good shoulder putting on my rucksack( ) or similar. It was nothing major and was all feeling good until this morning when i woke up and was unable to lift my arm straight out in front of me. Honestly, after 7 years of competitive powerlifting and strongman I now seem to be able to get injured while I am asleep. basically, my right arm spasms and is REALLY sore when i do anything. I can't even wipe my a*se with that arm. So I have a physio appointmen tomorrow morning at 9...unless I break my leg in my sleep. Extremely frustrating. I have been thinking for sometime that my heavy lifting days are numbered and this may be the turning point where maximum body strength is no longer the priority. I have to think of my lifting longevity as i am 38. will see what the physio says tomorrow before I do anything rash like put all my SM equipment on ebay!! will try and get a few pics of the holiday up soon, including one of a 10kg block of chocolate from our trip to the cadbury factory

You are better than mystic Meg! Feel much better today. Should be able to do the 2HP comp in my backyard on Sunday. Bring it on!! Here is the holiday stuff... We went to Hobart (capital of Tasmania), Port Arthur (original penal colony from first European settlements) and salamanca craft market. As you can see from the pics, it was very much a family holiday. My, wife, daughter and giant freddo frog at the Cadbury factory in Tasmania. wife and daughter and a giant chicken A 10kg block of chocolate In terms of training, the physio says I should be much better in a couple of days. Just some irritation where the bicep tendon meets the shoulder. For breakfast I had, cheerios, 2 anti inflamms, rapigel and an ice pack. Yum Yum. Here is my vulcan level7 cert. I thought it was pretty funny! au.youtube.com/watch?v=nqYsdnZM14Q

Vulcan CCS level6 R=1, L=1 level7 R=1, L=0(missed by few mm),0 (bit better than parallel) level8 R=0 (missed by 1cm)
vulcan set it with non-gripping hand level8 R = 0,0,0,0 All close but no cigar level7 L = 1,0,1,0 Got a couple when I set it well.
Seem to have run out of linear progress. Can sweep it down fine to about 1cm or less and then I am stuck. So I need to work the close on level7 on my left hand and level8 on my right hand.

Below par with the dinnies tonight. Probably should have put my gelt on and done them earlier in the workout. Disappointing end to the workout.
